The Government Chief Secretary met with staff and management of the Internal Revenue Commission and Customs today, challenging them to work extra hard to make more money for the country. Isaac Lupari reiterates that with the National Budget at just about K13bn, with a deficit of K2bn, both the I-R-C and Customs will have to rake in K9bn for the country. He's urged the IRC to start spot inspections impose fines on businesses who fail to pay their taxes. IRC Commissioner General, Betty Palaso, also announced the establishment of a combined task force, comprising relevant agencies including the IRC and Customs to kick start the exercise. The Chief Secretary's weekly meeting with heads of departments and agencies will also continue.
