Papua New Guinea's vibrant democracy is slowly eroding and is likened to a man whose hands, feet and mouth is tied and gagged, and this is dangerous for a developing nation. Northern Governor and People's Movement for Change Party Leader Gary Juffa, said this when lashing out at police, after they assaulted protestors at the Unagi Oval yesterday. Mr. Juffa said, such actions by police in trying to suppress people will result in more animosity between them and the general public, and this can lead to frustration build up and likely exchanges in the near future. He said, most bloody and violent acts around the world are committed by suppressed and oppressed people, and PNG is looking down that path currently, but it should be discouraged from following it.
