JAPANESE Prime Minister Shinzo Abe will address the business community and the Government at a business breakfast on Friday morning at the Crowne Plaza hotel.
Mr Abe, his wife Akie and an entourage of more than 250 government and business leaders journalists will arrive at 3:45pm tomorrow on a Japanese Defence Force jet. He will be received by a guard of honour and a 19-gun salute before he travels to Government House to pay a courtesy call on Governor-General Sir Michael Ogio. He will then have a one-on-one meeting with Prime Minister Peter O’Neill on the same day before being hosted to a grand dinner at the State function room. Mr Abe will also visit the Caritas Technical Secondary School, where he will be met by Mrs Lynda Babao-O’Neill, wife of Prime Minister O’Neill. Mr Abe and his wife Akie and entourage left Tokyo on Sunday for a week-long visit to New Zealand, Australia and then to Papua New Guinea tomorrow. They are in Australia today, where he will sign free trade and defence technology deals with Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott and become the first Japanese prime minister to address parliament in Canberra, according to Australian media. In Port Moresby he will meet with Mr O’Neill and his Cabinet to sign the PNG Japan Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement on July 11. Mr Abe will then visit Wewak to meet with Sir Michael Somare and Lady Veronica before a visit to the Japanese Peace Park. The team will also visit the Brandi, a site of fierce World War II battles between the Japanese and Allied forces. Comments are closed.
