Leader of Opposition Belden Namah today said in his Independence message to the people of PNG that while celebrating 39 years of achievements in the country, he said Papua New Guineans must also reflect on the failures and challenges that are yet to come.
He said that in terms of achievements, our democracy as it stood was well preserved by the past leadership, while today it continues to come under direct attack by the very ones who took an oath to guide and protect in. He said our democracy was able to withstand the test of time and our institutions of state have weathered numerous storms. Meanwhile, Mr. Namah commended those who fought hard to put PNG ahead of themselves and their families by standing firm to protect the institutions of state and in discharging their duties and responsibilities without fear and favour.
