The Hela Provincial Assembly meeting was held yesterday convening for the first time after the death of the late Governor of Hela Anderson Pawa Agiru. The meet was chaired by Tari-Pori MP and Minister for Government Business James Marape with the following main business agendas; Unity, reconciliation and the Peace of the province, discussions on tribal fights, legality of Mt Bosavi and the swearing in of the new Provincial Administrator. “It was hot and packed to capacity and hundreds flocked to witness the meet, and things got loud and rowdy as supporters of the two front runners for the acting Governors post Potape (Francis Potape Member for Koma-Magarima) and Undialu (Philip Undialu Member for Koroba-Lake Kopiago) agreed and disagreed on the various points on the agenda, it got so loud you couldn’t hear anyone and upon moving a motion to reschedule the meet, in house political supporters of Potape called for the meeting to be scheduled for the 28th of July while supporters of Undialu called for the meet to be held next Tuesday July the 4th 2016. The Chairman of the meeting and Member for Tari-Pori Hon James Marape moved for the motion to hold the meeting next week Tuesday in favour of Undialu,” said new Hela Provincial Administrator William Bando. Throughout the deliberation amid the heat and a few light showers the people of Hela remained steadfast, peaceful in witnessing the event, with police out in force to ensure law and order was upheld. The coming week becomes pivotal as it is a poignant part in the political history of the Province as Hela moves on after the legacy left behind by the late much loved Governor Anderson Aiguru.
