Landowners in the LNG affected areas in Tari Hela Province have traveled to Port Moresby last week and some will be coming in today and tomorrow to address some of their issues to be brought forward to the Prime Minister Peter O’Neill.
The Hela Provincial Police Commander, Mark Yangen says there have been threats put forward by the landowners saying that they will shutdown the LNG operations in the province if none of their issues brought to the government is addressed. Mr Yangen and a several other landowners will be traveling into Port Moresby tomorrow and convene of meeting will kick start on Monday next week. "I have been asked by the landowners to come along in terms of my role in the province for providing security and ensuring law and order if anything bad happens out of the negotiations and a petition that they will hand over to PM," said PPC Yangen.
