More than 30 people are dead, and 28 others injured in a nasty hand-grenade attack in the Southern Highlands Province.
Prime Minister Peter O' Neil, as the Minister for Police, has been called on to immediately intervene and bring back normalcy in the Kagua-Erave District. The grenade attacked occurred in the early hours of yesterday morning, at the 'haus man'. The dead and injured are mainly fighting men from the Kambia clan of Sugi Valley in the Kagua District. The attack was orchestrated by the Wambe clansmen also from the Sugi Valley, as the tribal conflict continues between the two clans. Some 210 houses have also been burnt to the ground. Spokesman from the Kambia clan, Jacob Walenga, says his clan wants peace and is calling on the government to immediately deploy police mobile squad into the area, before more lives are lost. Mr. Walenga says the two tribes also live at the border of Prime Minister's Ialibu/Pangia Electorate and he should take ownership to send policemen to instil law and order and allow normalcy to return to the trouble torn area. Acting Assistant Commissioner Police Highlands Superintendent, Martin Lakari, has send the Mobile Squad to the tribal fighting area to assess the situation and maintain normalcy there.
