Students at the Mt Hagen Technical college boycotted classes today after two of their students were assaulted by landowners at the weekend.
Students of the college say some locals from the area who were under the influence of liquor enTered the premises and assaulted he two students. The victims who sustained injuries to their face and were admitted to the Mt Hagen provincial hospital and discharged today. They were from Morobe and Western province respectively. The entire student body this morning had petitioned the college administration to swiftly act on this and immediately engage a security firm to man the college premises and not locals as guards. The college governing council were meeting this afternoon on the matter and were expected to deliberate on the petition and other issues. Comments are closed.
