The PNG Land Board of the Lands and Physical Planning Department today during a media tour of the proposed government housing scheme pilot project for the Papua New Guinean Public Servants located at Gerehu 3B Section: 15, allotment 71 along the new four lane freeway from Gerehu to nine (9) mile here in Port Moresby which will service all public servants in the 32 departments here in Port Moresby says this is an opportunity that will be given to Public Servants through their department for this housing scheme.
The PNG Land Board stated that there will be 1734 blocks allocated to this project costing K20 million and will see it’s first 400 to 500 blocks been given out to public servants starting this year. Chairman for the PNG Land Board Sam Wange announced that the five nominated state entities trustee’s who will be given the first land titles who will be over looking this project and making sure that transparency is seen are Office of the Urbanisation, National Planning, Lands and Physical Planning ,Justice and Attorney General and the Department of Finance. He also urged those illegal settlers who are currently settling on this land to start moving and vacate this state owned land before development starts. Chief executive officer for Office of the Urbanisation Max Kep says if this pilot project initiative by the National Government for developing affordable housing scheme to normal Papua New Guinean be successful then more such scheme will be developed and made available for Papua New Guinean.
