Suspended Sohe MP and Minister for Community Development, Youth and Religion, Delilah Gore, has been found guilty by the leadership tribunal.
The decision was handed down in Port Moresby. Delilah Gore was found guilty on one out of two allegations relating to an in-flight incident at Girua Airport in Popondetta last year. The tribunal found she has conducted herself in a disorderly manner bringing her position as a leader into disrepute. Penalty submissions will be presented to court later this week. She was found not guilty of using her phone on the plane as evidence presented to the tribunal suggested otherwise. However the argument with the flight attendant that resulted in her being offloaded amounts to Gore misconducting herself as a leader in public. Meantime, the same tribunal has dismissed all allegations against Works Minister, Francis Awesa. Mr Awesa was referred on two allegations for blocking off a public area, for personal use denying public access and failing to declare a property in the National Capital District. A tenant raised the complaint but the tribunal heard this was done before he became a leader. Another leader, the Member for Kagua Erave, James Lagea, was found guilty of not submitting his election related expenses in the first three months of office. The Integrity of Political Parties and Candidates raised the matter in a historic move that eventually saw the leader appearing before the tribunal. Lagea pleaded guilty and had told his supporters outside court that he has already paid K4,000 as fine for the administrative blunder and submitted the report. His lawyer will make a penalty submission on Friday. Bogia MP John Hickey's case is similar to that of Mr Lagea and was also adjourned to Friday for hearing,
