Foreign owned shops and fast food outlets in Northern Province have been warned to have proper documents to operate or face the penalties. Officers from Governor Gary Juffa's office told NBC News, that authorities will be coming down hard on owners of retail shops and fast food outlets who are operating illegally. The move comes, after a public outcry over the food and items sold by foreigners in the provincial capital, Popondetta. Mr. Juffa made this clear after visiting a fast food outlet late last year, where he found food served at the outlet, to be of low quality and prepared in unhygienic conditions. "Northern governor Garry Juffa has instructed his officers to walk in and out of all Asian shops within Popondetta town to check on their work permits, passport and visas. This is because locals have raised concern that the food they buy from the Asian shops and Kaibars were overdue.Governor Juffa and his officers are working on the matter to solve the issue.Meanwhile, Juffa has shut down all the kai bar shops in Popondetta town until further notice for operations."
