THE expatriate woman is facing charges of deprivation of liberty and obstruction has been release on K500 bail.
Police in the National Capital District confirmed that she has also surrendered her travel documents to the committal court. The matter relates to a complaint by the relative of a local that the Filipino woman employed her as a housmaid at the 5-Mile home in NCD. It is alleged that the maid, from Kabakaul, East New Britain, was never let out of her employer’s premises since 2005. She claimed that she was tasked to carry out her duties within the confined area. Police last Saturday arrested the Filipino and allowed the maid to leave the premises. The Filipino was released on K500 bail soon after she was charged, an action which has caused concern among the investigating officers who opposed bail. A police source said the Filipino could have been allowed bail because conditions at the Boroko police cells where she was detained were poor. Comments are closed.
