The National Court in Waigani has slapped a father with a 30-year prison sentence in hard labour, for sexually abusing his biological daughter for two years. The Chief Justice, Sir Gibbs Salika handed down the sentence against Andrew Pora from Jiwaka Province yesterday (14.02.19). Pora was found guilty of persistently sexually abusing his daughter on 9 different occasions between January 2014 and July 2016 at the Morata Suburb in Port Moresby. Sir Gibbs said Pora fell way short of being called a father, because he had abused and breached his position of trust. He further says the courts have a duty to protect PNG's young girls and womenfolk from sexual intimidation, harassment and abusers. Pora had 2 years and 7 months deducted from his sentence for time spent in custody. He will serve the balance of 27 years and 5 months in hard labour. NBC News/Pngfacts Comments are closed.
