Members of the public, including youths and several local level government presidents, yesterday locked the main gate to the Provincial Administration building in Wewak, East Sepik Province.
This happened yesterday morning as the tussle into the acting Provincial Administrator's post took another twist. Public servants took the day off after they could not get in. The appointment of Mr Christoper Asa as the acting Provincial Administrator, replacing Otto Ganai, is now before the courts. NBC News contacted Mr Otto Ganai but he refused to make any comments regarding the situation surrounding the appointment of the Provincial Administrator only stating that the case is now before the courts and he will not make any comments. On the 20th of July 2014 a media release was issued by Governor of East Sepik, Grand Chief Sir Michael Somare, stating among other things the assuming of the office of the acting Provincial Administrator by Mr Christoper Asa on the 21st which was last week Monday.
