The Management of the Eastern Highlands Provincial Health Authority was forced to operate outside the Goroka Provincial Hospital.
Local communities have ordered the P-H-A executives and staff out of the hospital's premises and locked the gates. This follows a meeting with the Member for Goroka Open Bire Kimisopa local community leaders including doctors and staff of the hospital. The reasons behind the move is yet to be known but its understood local communities have levelled the blame on PHA for alleged constant threats and intimidation, resulting in the recent standoff. Doctors' Spokesperson Dr Daniel Kanasi confirmed, the executives were locked out of the hospital as of this morning, while they resumed their work. As an efforts yesterday we have lock up, PPP went and lock the gates and PHA management as of today did not operate in the hospital. They have been locked out of the hospital premises by the community to take civil action on humanitarian grounds. NBC
