Foreigners continuing to break PNG laws, have been warned to stop doing so, because State agencies are aware of their illegal activities and will eventually catch up with them.
The P-N-G Customs Commissioner, Ray Paul, issued the warning while revealing the existence of drug syndicates operating in Papua New Guinea. He said, both nationals and foreigners are involved. He said this at a Port Moresby news conference on Friday, when expressing disappointment over a newspaper report last week, on a major drug bust in the City, disturbing Customs investigations, As Rose Amos, reports, Commissioner Paul said in past and present incidences all indicate, foreigners especially Asians are frequently attempting to smuggle prohibited items including dangerous Drugs out or into PNG through a organized syndicate. The major drug syndicate is between foreigners and nationals. Customs believe the recent incident involving a national who disembarked from a Hong Kong flight and was caught by officials for smuggling in Methamphetemine or ice at the Jacksons International Airport was part of the syndicate. The man caught is under police custody, and intelligence are currently investigating the matter secretly to apprehend the ring leader in PNG. However Paul said, as the result of a news article in Post Courier, the ring leader has gone into hiding. The report frustrated intelligence as it disturbs their investigations. Comments are closed.
