A MAN accused of raping a five-year-old girl has been denied bail by the district court in Port Moresby.
Terence Tapio Paparo, from Yabiufa in the Unggai-Bena district of Eastern Highlands, was alleged to have committed the offence earlier this year. The court heard that Paparo had sexually attacked the girl in his house in a suburb in Port Moresby. Magistrate Cosmos Bidar told Paparo that he had the right to representation by a lawyer. Police prosecutor Ambrose Gilio objected to Paparo’s request for bail saying it was a serious offence. “We object to bail by the accused on the grounds that the offence committed is serious and the victim was a minor,” Gilio said. Bidar denied Paparo bail and advised the police to prepare all documents for the hearing next month. PNG Facts/The National Comments are closed.
