People from the coastal areas of Western Province and residents on Daru Island are on alert following a tropical cyclone warning.
Category three tropical cyclone Ita was reported to have been moving at about 170 kilometres south of Amazon Bay in Central Province and 260 kilometres South East of Port Moresby this morning. A resident on Daru Island and NBC Western Broadcast Officer Edward Miniel says, nothing much has been experienced in the last two days there but people are on alert since the cyclone warning was issued. "No strong winds, the breeze is just blowing as normal as it is and just that the rain is coming at times and going off at times. "We just had a big shower down pour here and then just ceased but overall the weather is just the same". "The tides are as normal as possible. We're having the mid tide and the tide just changed. We just having normal high tides and low tides". "People are aware of the cyclone warning being alarmed on the EMTV, unfortunately not the National Radio and keeping a look out on that since yesterday". Comments are closed.
