The Chief Secretary to Government, Sir Manasupe Zurenuoc, has asked the Attorney General to suspend PNG's Chief Magistrate Nerrie Eliakim.
The country's first female chief magistrate was referred to the Judicial and Legal Services Commission for official misconduct and administrative incompetence. In a letter dated September 29, 2015, the Chief Secretary said he had received complaints against Ms. Eliakim, and referred the matter to Attorney General Ano Pala, whose the Chairman of the J-L-S-C. Sir Manasupe, has written to Mr. Pala, asking him to suspend and investigate the Chief Magistrate with the view to refer her to a Tribunal, under Section 81 of the Constitution.
