The Public Accounts Committee, has slammed the tendering process involved in the awarding of contract to controversial medical drug supplier, Borneo Pacific Pharmaceuticals.
The three-year contract is worth 71-Million Kina per annum - an amount described by Inquiry Chairman John Hickey as hugely expensive. Mr. Hickey said, its shocking people's lives are being compromised by inefficiencies in the governments tendering process. Meanwhile, Health Secretary, Pascoe Kase defended the company, saying it has a proven 18-year track record of distributing quality drugs in P-N-G. The Health Department, P-N-G Medical Society and Central Supplies & Tenders Board, appeared before the Inquiry yesterday. NBC Comments are closed.
