Police in the National Capital District say, there's no concern of a public disorder, following their weekend confrontation with members of the Defence Force.
National Capital District District Metropolitan Superintendent Andy Bawa told NBC News, police are everywhere in the city, to ensure opportunists do not take advantage of the situation to destabilize law and order. A police unit had intervened early this morning, cutting off an attempted public looting of the J-Mart supermarket at the Erima suburb. Another branch of the same shop at the Foodland suburb, had suffered massive loss on Saturday, when opportunists broke and looted it. Mr. Bawa however says, tension among the two disciplined forces has subsided, praising the hierarchy of the disciplines to have taken charge of their men. He says, police will put their differences aside and uphold common sense and the country's interest. Meantime, Mr. Bawa says, an independent investigation team has been set up since Saturday, investigating the standoff between the two disciplined forces. Mr. Bawa also says a pre-Christmas special police operation has started, with the operation proper to be launched next week. The capital city police boss says, there is no cause for public concern that Christmas will be safe for city residents, and that law and order is intact. Comments are closed.
