PANGU Pati leader Sam Basil says he is in constant communication with political parties in the government. He says People’s Progress Party (PPP) leader Ben Micah is one of them. He said yesterday that Pangu and PPP went back a long way in the history of the country and that relationship was maintained to this day. Basil said this yesterday after Micah denied that there had been meetings between PPP and Pangu despite their long pre-independence historical association. Last Friday, Micah came out in the media talking about PPP, Pangu and Melanesian Alliance merging last Wednesday in New Ireland. Basil welcomed this move, however, Micah was quick to deny meeting with Basil. “I’ve been talking to him (Micah) every week and I just talked to him a few days ago,” Basil said. “We are friends of PPP, have always been and are always talking to each other. “It’s unfortunate that we are in Opposition and he’s got to protect PPP in Government. We are friends and will wait for the right time.”
