The Opposition has cautioned Papua New Guineans to be careful when making comment on the West Papuan issue.
Deputy Leader, Sam Basil in an interview with NBC News said, West Papua is an international matter that can easily provoke aggression by Indonesian soldiers. The warning comes amidst increasing calls by P-N-G citizens and individual members of Parliament for the liberation of their Melanesian brothers in West Papua. Mr. Basil said the government, especially Prime Minister Peter O'Neill and Foreign Affairs Minister, Rimbink Pato, need to take the matter seriously and clear P-N-G's stand on West Papua. "Prime Minister and NEC are not taking courage of the matter. They are allowing this matter to be kicked around like a football, and I can say that because there are already members of Parliament that are already picking the matter up. My greatest fear is that they may bring the issue up to a level where it may provoke some sort of aggression along the boarder. And we have people living at Wutum, Bewabi, all the way down to the Western boarder, I mean they may have problems ah, Indonesian incursion may occur, people may loose lives, or to the greatest extend, they mau are declaere war on Papua New Guinea." Mr. Basil also expressed concerned about the horrific and graphic images of mutilated and decapitated West Papuans being posted on the social media by individuals. Next news headline
