About 93 Australian Government recipients from PNG have returned after completing their studies in various universities and colleges in Australia. The PNG Australian Awards Alumni (PNGAAA) hosted a reception for the returning awardees with the aim to connect and provide ongoing support for all who have studied in Papua New Guinea. Acting Education Counsellor to the Australian High Commissioner Kate Fuller when congratulating the returning awardees said education is critical to PNG’s growth and that educating the population will be the driving factor that will move the country forward. "The Australian Government through its high commission in PNG is committed to strongly supporting Papua New Guineans especially women and people living with disabilities to further their education in order to participate in the development of PNG." Said Ms Fuller. Ms Fuller also told them that the onus is now on them to execute what they have learn in Australia to benefit Papua New Guinea as a nation.
