AUSTRALIA stands ready to help Papua New Guinea host the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in 2018.
Australia’s Foreign Minister Julia Bishop stressed and reiterated that in Port Moresby yesterday, saying that Australia would make sure that PNG would showcase its country to the wider world when it hosts the APEC Summit but did not go into details. She held a joint press conference with PNG Ministers, Foreign Minister Rimbink Pato flanked by National Planning Minister Charles Abel, Public Service Minister Sir Puka Temu, Defence Minister Dr Fabian Pok and Transport Minister Malakai Tabar. Both leaders spoke about Australia’s relationship with PNG which is deep and wide-ranging, reflecting geographic proximity, historical links and a growing trade and investment relationship.
