Australia's minister for international development in the Pacific has denied that the Australian government would be cutting funding for HIV programs in Papua New Guinea. Australia's opposition has called on the government to make a commitment on a support for HIV programs in PNG. Senator Concetta Fierravanti-wells says Australia is working closely with the health department in PNG to continue to provide support "We recognize the importance of HIV services continuing. "We are continuing to fund HIV NGOs which directly provide a treatment. "As I said we are working with the government of PNG, and we are working with other funding partners such as the Global Fund."
