A VISITING team of Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) consultants will be speaking at a two-day capacity-building workshop that begins in Port Moresby today.
The PNG Apec workshop will be held at the Grand Papua Hotel and would be facilitated by Apec Secretariat and the US government through the USAid. The workshop was being organised by the Investment Promotion Authority and the Apec Secretariat within the Department of Prime Minister and NEC. The workshop was aimed at creating awareness on the Apec group as an organisation and would include areas such as Apec and its achievements; revisit Apec’s overarching objectives; overview of Apec’s operating structure; active engagement in Apec’ PNG: benefitting from active participation in Apec and a review of Apec project process amongst others. It will highlight some major milestones to provide context on what Apec has accomplished with the majority of the focus on the last five years. Some of these would include those in trade and investment liberalisation, business facilitation, economic and technical cooperation and Apec values (voluntary, non-discrimination, and others).
