The people of Ambunti-Drekikir have re-elected National Congress Party candidate, Ezekiel Anisi, as their new member-elect.
Mr. Anisi was first elected in the 2012 National Elections. However, he was ousted after his election win was challenged in court by former Member and National Alliance candidate, Tony Aimo. Mr. Aimo was then installed as Member by the court of disputed returns. A by-election was ruled after Mr. Anisi appealed against this decision. He was declared the member-elect shortly after seven o'clock last night. Anisi poled a total of 11,200 defeating his nearest rival and United Resources Party candidate, Johnson Yalowa Wapunai, with 8,758 votes. Mr. Aimo was the last to be elimated with 7,971 votes.
