National Alliance Candidate Amkat Mai has regained his West Sepik Provincial Seat with a convincing 32, 948 votes surpassing the absolute majority of 29, 908. Returning Officer Kila Ralai officially declared AmKat Mai as member for West Sepik Provincial Seat this afternoon after the 13th elimination.
PPP Candidate Simon Solo came in second with 14, 663 as PNCs John Tekwie settled for 3rd place with 12, 203 votes. Meantime, the program for the Ijivitari By-election was announced today by the Electoral Commissioner Sir Andrew Trawen, which sees the issue of writs to be given out on the 03rd September, close of Nominations on the 09th September, Polling will commence on 07th November and ends on 20th November with the return of writs in or before 10th December. Daisy Hombogani will be the returning officer to this by-election as the K4.6million required for running this by-election is awaiting timely release of funds from department of Treasury.
