The founder and chief executive officer SARAN Kaba Jones of FACE Africa will visit Port Moresby from November 23 to 27.
The US embassy says she will engage with women, youth and non-government organisations to share best practices on partnering to progress in business and to succeed in leadership roles. Saran will highlight the importance of women’s entrepreneurship. She will also lead motivational and practical workshops on basic business and leadership capabilities of young community leaders and future young business entrepreneurs, and encourage networking and coalition-building among these groups. FACE Africa is a community development organisation working to strengthen water, sanitation and hygiene infrastructure and services in rural communities across sub-Saharan Africa. She co-founded a company in Monrovia that creates businesses in areas of small-scale manufacturing, agriculture and hospitality. The first project was a four-bedroom guest house which was the first in that country. Saran was born in Liberia but left at the young age of eight, shortly before the country’s civil war began. Since launching FACE Africa in January 2009, the organisation has raised over $600,000 from JP Morgan Chase, Coca Cola, the Voss Foundation, P&G, Chevron and the Robert Bosch Foundation. It built more than 50 WASH projects and reached 25,000 people in rural Liberia.
