Concerned Wewak citizens say that self-administered or induced abortion is active in the province and is said to be rising.
Sources say young girls are not afraid to perform abortion on unwanted pregnancies, adding that they do whatever they can to abort. According to a source, methods such as consuming bleach, concentrated coffee and some even consume a whole packet of salt diluted in about 200 to 300mls of water. What is more disturbing is that most of these abortions are carried by teenage school girls. According to Wikkipedia encyclopaedia, unsafe abortions result in approximately 7 thousand maternal deaths and 5 million hospital admissions per year, globally. Meantime, concerned citizens say that this is a serious issue and relevant authorities in the province must do something about it before more lives are lost. Comments are closed.
