A teacher at Yangoru Secondary School in East Sepik Province has fallen
victim to police brutality over the weekend. The senior teacher in the company of his colleagues was walking back from a club when confronted by a member of the Police Mobile squad, who was drunk. Eye witnesses told N-B-C News after the teacher who was protecting his junior was knocked to the ground, the policeman then fired shots between the teachers leg. The teacher was then rescued by his colleagues, however the policeman rounded up his men and went to the teacher's residence and continued to beat him in front of his family. Its believed the deputy head teacher has reported to the matter to the Provincial Police Commander and the Provincial Education Supervisor. Residents of Yangoru say police have been doing a job however, there a few members that are abusing their position. Comments are closed.
