This is the 7th Day since the shooting of the Late Mrs Moanna Pisimi on New Year’s Day, and while there’s a public outcry for justice to take its course for Moanna and two other murders which have been reported to police.
Lae commenced 2015 on a low note, with 3 murders reported in the first week of the New Year. At 3am, Thursday 1st of January 2015, -Lae City mourned the sudden death of Mrs Moanna Pisima, who was allegedly shot by police and security guards along the Malahang road at Back road. Investigations are underway to determine who shot the mother who was reported by police, to have been involved in a tragic car chase. While Lae city was focused on the tragic death of the young mother, another murder was reported of long time Asian business man and owner of Morobe stationary, Titi Tan in his residence. Mr Tan was in his house at Hibiscus Street at Eriku, when suspects entered his house through an open window and stabbed him on the neck, killing him instantly. Again this morning, a man from East Sepik Province was killed by a group of armed men from Menyamya at Back road following a clash between the deceased and the Menyamya community at back road. These murders have instilled fear amongst residents and villagers, but police have reassured that safety is not at all a problem.
