Is providing basic services is the role of Hon. MPs? MPs suppose to make policies, write laws, develop visions, etc. to make sure that the country is progressing forward in the right direction. MPs suppose to make sure that policies and development strategies are implemented and systems are functioning, visions are achieved, etc. MPs should be praised for how many laws and policies they write and sponsor. MPs should be praised for how many visions and development strategies they develop and successfully implement. MPs should NOT be praised for delivering basic services. People deserve the right to basic services. It's their money and there should be a budget for basic services all year around. Its very sad that we PNGeans still can think, act and talk not different like our ancestors who had never been to school or exposed to the outside world of politics. Please, throw the crab away and stop praising MPs for delivering basic services when we know that the money MPs use is not coming from their own pocket. Instead, ask you local MP what are his/her plans to solve the high unemployment rate, increase law and order problems, high cost of living, housing problem, high energy cost, food security, etc. MPs should be concentrating on bigger development issues and challenges. The role of the MPs is to make sure that every system of government work properly so that basic services are reaching the people as outline in visions and development strategies. MPs are suppose to provide direction, mentor and advice to the public servants to implement policies and development strategies. Let service delivery be the job of the public servants. If MPs are involving in service delivery then something is seriously not right in the country. Hope their intentions are not in having a share out of the public funds. Don't make politics in PNG that cheap, useless, meaningless and senseless. Basic services should by now reached the masses of the population after 38 years of independence. Service delivery is not rocket science!
