The Pogera Mine has underscored it's world class reputation, this month processing it's 100 millionth tonne of ore since the mill commenced operation in 1990. Program Executive General Manager Greg Walker says the 100 million mark reached in the early hours of July 14. He says this is a tremendous milestone for Pogera and congratulated all the employees for contributing to acheive these results, and also the stakeholders, people of Pogera and government. The first bar of gold at Pogera was poured on September 20, 1990 and since then the mine has produced more than 17 point 6 million ounces of gold, it currently produces around half a million ounces a year, placing it amoung the most productive of the world's gold mines. The mine says this production represents on average about 12 percent of PNG's total export earnings over the past 22 years. Comments are closed.
