Christopher Papiali Air Niugini has commenced inaugural flights to Cebu, Philippines and the CEO can be seen smiling with the Philipinos as they put a red carpet on Malum Nalu's photos last night. This seem to suggest now that we have more Philipinos living in PNG and more likely to come here. From experience, Philipinos love traveling and do send more money to their relatives and wantoks in Philippines . The 'Tagalo culture' is slowly sinking deep into the core value systems of every Papua New Guineans and what we may find is the gradual process of Asianization in this country. Philipinos are quite different from main line Asians largely Chinese, Malaysians, Taiwanese and Singaporeans. Having said this a very economical approach and a much service approach to all Papua New Guineas would be that of requesting the CEO of Air Niugini to improve all Air Niugini provincial terminals right across the country. Some terminals do not have fans and chairs need to be polished with more hospitality approach. And for the better, reduce some cost of domestic flights.
Air Niugini belongs to the people of Papua New Guinea and the people spoke so strongly when Sir Mekere and his board attempted to privatize Air Niugini. It is more appropriate if Air Niugini can reduce its domestic flights. I am sure more money will come from those international flights and other income generating sources. The CEO should not be blind and continue to take a soft stand on this issue. The CEO should as much as possible decline his attempt from milking the National Budget to meet the shortfall of Air Niugini's operation year in year out. Papua New Guineans need a better and very viable and affordable service. Time to act. Comments are closed.
