An athlete with disability, wants easy access for fellow athletes and spectators with disability.
Francis Kompaon, the first athlete to win the country's first ever Olympic or Paralympic medal in 2008, says the facilities for the 2015 Pacific Games, must be user-friendly for athletes with disabilities. "It's late now to do permament ramps and toilets and showers. At least temporary ones are done for the games. This would be a good lesson for the country in the future. We learn from it, next time it's important infrastructure created must be accessable to people with disability," Mr Kompaon said. Kompaon emphasized this during the Host Organizing Committee's one-day workshop, in Port Moresby, last Friday (17/4/15). The workshop was aimed at educating the Organizing Committee, on how it can ensure athletes with disabilities are comfortable during the period of the Games.
