At least one Governor has welcome the O'Neil-Dion Government's proposed six-billion-Kina EXIM Bank loan from China, saying it will solve a lot of the recurring infrastructure problems in the country.

National Capital District Governor Powes Parkop says, he's optimistic the loan will help address the ever increasing strain on Port Moresby's infrastructure, caused by the expansion of the city.

And he's looking at putting a bill totaling 900-million-Kina to the government from the proposed loan package to improve the city's infrastructure.

NCD Governor Powes Parkop says apart from rehabilitating existing vital infrastructure such as the Highlands Highway, the government must fund new projects as well.

Parkop says he had a bill of about 900 million kina for NCD, to build more roads, highways, freeways and flyovers to solve the traffic congestion in the city.

He says NCD also needs such infrastructure to prepare the city to host the 2015 Pacific Games.

The Parliamentary Leader for Social Democratic Party says in his recent talks with prime minister Peter O'Neill, the needs of our capital city have been factored into this loan finance with Exim Bank.

Governor Parkop adds such decision should be welcome by all as our nations capital is a vital asset for our nation.
