Papua New Guinea's newly appointed Police boss, Gari Baki has been charged with contempt for interfering with and preventing the implementation and execution of the arrest of Secretary for Treasury Dairi Vele. A warrant of arrest was issued for arrest of Mr Vele who authorized the the payment of K50 million to an Israeli company called LR Group for the purchase of two diesel turbine Power Generators. However, the arrest of Mr. Vele was not executed by the Police boss and consequently, he was charged with contempt.
